No, Not Again!
Now, I know how it feels to be "bitten by the agility bug" as
I find myself submitting Trial entry forms weeks and even months in advance. It's strange how, in the conformation
events, I almost always procrastinated until 5 minutes before closing requiring an extra fee of 3-4 bucks
to electronically submit entries over the internet. After all, it's not much fun getting dressed up to trot your
perfectly groomed dog around in a circle a couple of times only to get snubbed because you don't know the judge.
I started out on the premise that agility would
be a wonderful opportunity for me to do something fun with my canine companion.
It's a confidence builder for a timid dog and good exercise for the both of us. What a great
way to burn off excess energy in 4 very active American Staffordshire Terriers!
Most importantly, dogs love to think and learn thus, strengthening the
owner-dog relationship in a very positive way.
Well, that was then............... but
now................. I want to win! (Or, at least, qualify)
I keep telling myself not to bore everybody with competition
recaps but Caleb was just SO CLOSE this past weekend! Plus,
I have some more photos to share - Aren't you glad that we don't have real kids?
I'll make this quick:
(Sat) JWW - Was doing great (no faults) except got sucked
into the tunnel - Wrong Course!
(Sat) STANDARD - Knocked down the 2nd jump then ran past the
3rd - Disqualified!
(Sun) JWW - Ran past obstacle then after redirecting
was too close to jump so had to redirect again - Two Refusals. Caleb would have qualified on this course but his time was too slow. It's funny how he blasts through
our course at home but meanders in public.
(Sun) STANDARD - Clean run until the very last jump. (No,
not again!)
