What A Bunch of Bull (Dog)
Although Caleb possesses the body of a finely tuned athlete
with muscles and striations exuding from every inch of his body, he continues to bore everyone with his hum
drum runs as he meanders through the obstacles minutely faster than a tortoise. He expends only enough energy to barely
skim over all of the jumps - I should say all but one! Oh, and his most favorite jump to knock down is the very last
one, of course. I think that he is three for three now. But as we all know, in the world of canine competition,
it is almost always the handler's fault - bad me, bad me!
I swear that when we train on my course at home, Caleb blasts through
the obstacles like a bullet and even, occassionally, goes off on a tangent just so he can show off his agileness
(is that a word?). What a little con artist! And who would ever guess that he has dissemenated from the loins
of Maximus the Miraculous and Grace the Brindle Bombshell? Well, you're not going to believe this but, today, he
finally won his first leg towards his Novice Agility title and with a 3rd place finish! Yey Caleb!!!
But that's not the end of the story. We decided to take Mad
Max out for another spin and I am proud to say that he amazed everyone with his 90 pound 20 1/4 inch tall body.
He had an awesome run although he missed his descending contact on the dog walk by about 2 inches. Max was the fastest
dog in his class finishing the course in 44 out of the 70 second standard course time. I actually made him stay
on the pause table a couple of seconds longer until I regained his focus and then he got a little distracted
on the weaves due to the commotion in the adjoining ring.
You really have to watch Max's video on the web page!
Check out his pics from Saturday that are attached to this email and then click on link to see "The Flying Bull".
I included Caleb's qualifying run also but you may need some caffeine prior to viewing. Unfortunately, I only entered
Max in the Standard course this weekend so no Jumpers. On Sunday, I really disappointed him by breaking a
Lead Out rule so we didn't get to run the course again. Ding bat handler!
